Brampton’s local business owner and entrepreneur Balbir Sohi, 38 years old young lady, owns Smiles on Wheels, a mobile dental hygiene service. The business runs in a Mercedes Sprinter Van, fully loaded with dental equipment to perform cleanings in GTA area. Sohi came to Canada from India in 2002. She also conducts oral health seminars both here as well as in India’s rural areas as charities.
Sohi asked and received investment for her mobile dental hygiene business, Smiles on Wheels in CBC’s Dragons’ Den. The show was originally taped back in the summer of 2016, and finally aired on CBC February 8, 2017 at 8 p.m. A dental hygienist hopes a clean pitch will have her driving away with a deal.
Sohi asked $40,000 for a 10 percent stake in her fledgling business. The Dragons liked the idea. Four of the five CBC Dragon’s Den made offers – Jim Treliving, Michael Wekerle, Michele Romanow, and Manjit Minhas. Sohi agreed to Jim Treliving’s proposal of $240,000 for 25 per cent stake in Smiles on Wheels. This former RCMP officer has 40 years of franchising experience with both Boston Pizza and Mr. Lube.
